National Guard troops are finally being sent to our southern border.
Texas confirmed on Friday that it's sending 1,000 troops to the US-Mexico border, and Governor Ducey confirmed this week that he's sending more than 300 members of our state's National Guard to do the same.
All of this is in response to President Trump's bold directive to dispatch the National Guard to help secure our porous border with Mexico.
I applaud the President's decision, as it sends a powerful signal to human, drug, and weapons traffickers that we are a nation of laws.
But Congress still needs to move on this, as the work to fix our immigration system is far from over.
That's why I'm asking for your help today.
Last month I spent time with Jim Chilton at his sprawling ranch in southern Arizona.
Jim drove me 20 miles in his pickup truck to show me the four-stranded barbed wire fence that separates Arizona and the United States from Mexico -- and he showed me how simple it is to slip right through it, even at his age of 79.
"If I can do it, anyone can," he told me.
