(Washington, DC) – The broad coalition of gun rights advocates led by
Constitutional Rights PAC, which hosted the first Gun Appreciation Day
in 2013, has returned with a new event to be held Saturday, September 14th to send a message about protecting the rights of gun owners and restoring God-fearing values to American culture. Our supporters – whether they are a Christian, a Jew or simply a person of no organized religion who believes, as many American Founding Fathers did, in a power transcendent of human knowledge and ingenuity – find common cause in America’s heritage, culture and the U.S. Constitution based on natural law and the natural rights flowing from it.
“The Second Amendment is very clear,” says coalition-founder Larry Ward. “Our right to keep and bear arms
shall not be infringed but that doesn’t stop our government from trying; and the more it tries, the more we will resist.”
In urging people to turn out
en masse for Guns & God Appreciation Day 2019, Constitutional Rights PAC asks participants to:
The first Gun Appreciation Day, supported by a broad coalition of gun rights organizations, was held January 13, 2013 as a protest against any government policy that would affect the Second Amendment adversely. It was a massive success – turning out more than 500,000 supporters – despite efforts by leftist media outlets such as Huffington Post and Buzzfeed
to delegitimize it.
Since then, National Gun Appreciation Day has been observed annually on January 19th. This year, looking to build on the enormous success of the first Gun Appreciation Day, Constitutional Rights PAC and the coalition will host
Guns and God Appreciation Day. Americans will be gathering across the nation on September 14 to demonstrate their unwavering support for our God-given, natural right of self-defense and our constitutional right to own and bear arms, to demonstrate their faith and devotion to God and the precepts of natural law.
It is our goal to expand Gun Appreciation Day to include defense of the First Amendment’s guarantee of free religious expression – including expression in the town square – to counter a rising tide of propaganda and agitation that belittles Americans’ faith in a higher power and religious virtues. Known generally as cultural Marxists, these leftist “cultural warriors” or “justice warriors” have been relentless in their campaign to whittle away the First Amendment right of religious expression and to defame traditional American culture.
For decades, traditional American norms and values have been undermined by cultural Marxists, the offshoot of Marxism that applies Marxism to cultural goals as well as economics and gave birth to Orwellian political correctness, “multiculturalism” and “anti-racism,” to name but a few examples of the movement’s glossary of Doublespeak terms. Cultural Marxists have waged an insidious campaign to impose their own tyrannous, man-made utopia on America, devoid of natural rights and religion.
Former President Barack Obama acted as a Leninist transmission belt of cultural Marxism in 2008 when he declared that small-town Americans are “bitter,” and “they cling to guns or religion…as a way to explain their frustrations.” Hillary Clinton, also, during the 2016 presidential campaign, was in full cultural-Marxist mode when she said Donald Trump supporters belong in a “basket of deplorables,” characterizing them as “racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic and Islamaphobic.” This kind of identity politics, intolerance and subversion leading to increased conflict and violence among groups, all, are hallmarks of cultural Marxism at work.
Gun ownership is not the cause of criminal gun violence and mass murder; the toxic environment and moral decay created by cultural Marxism is. The prevalence of guns in America is not new. What’s new is the moral decay, animosity, hatred and group conflict fostered by the ideology of cultural Marxism. In the 1940s, ‘50s and ‘60s, many public high schools had shooting clubs and some even had gun ranges on their premises where students could shoot after school. Even in New York City, virtually every public high school had a shooting club up until 1969, and it was common for high school students to take their guns with them to school on the subways.
The savagery beginning to permeate America today is directly related to the attack on American culture and the destruction of Judeo-Christian morality justified by the twisted Marxist belief that violent intolerance to anybody of another “consciousness” is ethically permissible.
Cultural warriors want to confiscate guns and throttle our freedom more generally through a vast arsenal of repressive policy instruments to rein in the very savagery and chaos they are creating. Constitutional Rights PAC and the broad coalition of guns rights advocates believe such an authoritarian dystopia not only is contrary to traditional American values and natural law but also is largely responsible for our current distemper. The solution is not to destroy our faith in God, our culture and freedoms but to restore them.
Since 2013, Constitutional Rights PAC has mobilized whenever necessary to protect the Second Amendment against the gun grabbers on the left who use incidents of criminal gun violence to foster fear among the American people as a pretext to eviscerate the Second Amendment. Guns & God Appreciation Day follows a similar trend, coming in the wake of leftist hysteria after mass shootings in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio, which sent the nation into a frenzy, causing some Americans to question the validity of gun ownership.
The Second Amendment is absolute in its clarity: “The right of the people to keep and bear Arms,
shall not be infringed.” No legislation restricting gun rights will be considered acceptable. Guns & God refuses to compromise on the Second Amendment.
“We want to double the turnout of the original Gun Appreciation Day,” Ward said. “Half a million people came out to celebrate their gun rights in 2013; we are shooting for a million this September.”
The Constitutional Rights PAC is urging supporters once again to show up en masse to gun stores, gun ranges, state capitals and town squares across the country to celebrate our God-given Second Amendment Rights and protest against the government’s attempts to undermine them.
