Dr. Ron Paul To Make Consensus 2019 Debut, Inaugurate First Hackathon for the Future of Decentralized Politics

Former Congressman and libertarian icon to join back-to-back events sponsored by the Digital Asset Policy Network (DAPNet) and Zap.org

NEW YORK, NY — The Digital Asset Policy Network (DAPNet) today announces Dr. Ron Paul will be the keynote speaker for the first-ever hackathon dedicated to decentralized solutions for democracy, and will also make an appearance at Consensus 2019 as part of a lineup of events happening this Monday, May 13th, in Manhattan, NYC.

A former 12-term U.S. Congressman and three-time U.S. Presidential candidate, Dr. Paul joins the influential lineup at Consensus 2019 for a discussion with CoinDesk Live, followed by a photo-op and book signing of his best-selling Audit The Fed.

Following his Consensus appearance, Dr. Paul will offer a kickoff speech for the first-ever hackathon focused on building the future of decentralized politics.

The hackathon will explore innovations in participatory government enabled by blockchain and smart contract technology. Dozens of coders from as far as Silicon Valley are vying for cryptocurrency awards for the best blockchain demonstrations showcasing innovation in governance, voting, oracle development, game-theory, and political action.

Developers will work with an Ethereum decentralized application boilerplate with ready-to-go blockchain smart contract-compatible data, courtesy of event sponsor Zap.org.

“The blockchain is redefining the idea of power and money in politics. From voting to money to budgetary transparency, the blockchain is how average Americans will seize back control from bureaucrats and special interests. It’s an honor to welcome Dr. Paul — his lifelong campaign for liberty helped kick the decentralization revolution into motion,” said Nick Spanos, cofounder of DAPNet.

This announcement follows DAPNet’s formal rollout on Thursday, May 9th.

DAPNet is a 501(c)(4) led by a coalition of cryptocurrency leaders and seasoned political operatives who combine decades of experience in blockchain innovation and expertise in winning grassroots campaigns.
